Lanetta Williams
Lanetta has been an outstanding asset to the Tigers since her freshman year in 2019-2020, where she started 11 out of 16 games. Despite her season being cut short due to an injury, Williams still scored 52 points on the year and moved up to fifth all-time in blocks by a Memphis freshman having 17 rejections on the season.
Even though her injury barred her from playing as much as she would have liked in her sophomore season, Williams came back in full force her junior year. Lanetta was a threat to other teams in the AAC as she ranked in the top 15 in the conference in blocks per game and ranked first on the Tigers in blocks with a total of 24. Williams was also third on the team in rebounds per game with an average of 4.1.
Although her senior campaign has not yet begun, Lanetta has already been named assistant captain. Williams has proven her commitment to the team and exemplifies what a true leader embodies. She handles herself on and off the court, having been named to the 2019-20 AAC All-Academic Team and Fall 2019 Dean’s List. With the “A” on her jersey, you can expect Lanetta to have her best season yet.
