Laura Linares
Laura Linares has had an absolutely amazing collegiate soccer career. Originally from Barcelona, she led her high school team to 5 league titles, and was a team captain during their 2017-18 season. She began her time as a college athlete at Iowa Western Community College. As a freshman she played in 18 games, starting in all 18, and had 5 goals and 5 assists on the season. Her success with the team continued as a sophomore where Laura had 2 game winning goals and was a First Team All-Region XI selection.
After two outstanding seasons with Iowa Western, Linares decided to enter the transfer portal, and made the decision to join Lamar University’s Women's Soccer Team. Her first year with the Cardinals, she played in 17 games making 16 starts and finished the season with 5 goals and 10 points. Laura had 2 game winning goals during her junior season, helping the team end the year with a record of 10-8-2.
Just finishing her senior season, Linares had a remarkable year. She played in 17 games, starting in 7, totaling 717 minutes. She ended the season with 4 goals and a total of 9 points. Laura had the recognition of becoming a member of the Southland Conference All-Tournament Team for her last year. The Cardinals had an exceptional season, winning their conference with a record of 15-2-2, and we are so happy we got to watch Laura be a part of this amazing team.
